Ready for Trim

The wifi connection at Trinity's Rectory drove me nuts this afternoon!  It took 6-7 tries to get connected, and then the connection would fail after just a couple minutes.  So now I'm at the Big Boy on Ripley Blvd., drinking tea.  Yesterday afternoon the same problem drove me to use the coffee shop.  There I had a latte, and then spent hours trying to get to sleep last night!

My house looks great.  The quality of Jamie's drywall work is excellent.  It's especially good compared to my apartment at Grand Haven where on some corners the metal underneath shows through.  If you live in West Michigan and have a drywall problem, Jamie's company is Shoreline Drywall in Muskegon (231-773-6634).  The photos below show some detail of his efforts at Presque Isle.

The stairwell is coming together pretty well.  Note the niches at the foot of the stairs, where Dave will build bookcases.  There will be eight of these, four on the ground floor and four upstairs.  Will they hold all my books?  Time will tell.

The upstairs walls and ceilings look equally trim.  Jamie's "knock down" treatment on the ceilings shows up especially well here — a little texture, but not enough to be distracting.  And you can still wash the ceilings!

In the office the large structure at center is the boxed-in
stovepipe.  The area to the right could be used for more shelving,
but I expect I'll hang photos here, where there's less sunlight.

One task remaining on the exterior is construction of the service porch/screened porch.  This will be my primary entrance to the house, while the front door will be used mostly by guests.  Yesterday I picked up a boot brush at Tractor Supply — one of those stationary gadgets which you use to clean the bottom and sides of your boots before going inside.  Tractor Supply has interesting stuff!

Kyle and Dave will be up tomorrow to start trimming the house.  Dave reports that his knee is doing very nicely after the surgery. •••
