Gettin' There

The drywall process has been moving along steadily this week.  Jamie, Steve and Chuck have been installing corners (metal or plastic, as the situation requires), and then mudding, sanding, mudding, sanding — again and again.  It's hard work, and a bit messy!  But the structure looks more and more like a house now, with the spaces well defined.  Jamie also noted that there's a lot more house here than one might guess from the outside or the floor plans.

Steve and Chuck both have daughters at home (ages 6 and 8) who have been checking this blog for mention of their fathers.  Sorry I haven't had more information this week.  In any case, I asked both Dads to smile for their girls!  Chuck and Steve miss their daughters!  They'll be home soon — promise!

Jamie tells me they have another half-day or so of corner and edge work, and then they can start spraying the ceiling.

We passed the winer solstice on December 21st, so the days are now getting longer.  Make that, a little longer!  Frankly, you'd hardly notice it.  At 4:00 the sun was getting ready to set outside the master bath window, which still has its tags and protective film.

Today is the Feast of the Epiphany, which is popularly associated with the visit of the Three Magi to the Christ Child.  There was an excellent Epiphany Dinner at Trinity, Alpena, this evening.  Great food and good company!  Epiphany is also the anniversary of my mother's death.  "Into paradise may the angels lead you...." •••
