Installing Doors

Kyle and Dave started work on the trim today, installing and trimming out the doors upstairs.  Although they are working on the second floor, their saw is set up in the kitchen.  That's not by choice.  The kitchen has the only working outlet in the entire house!  Only here can they have both an operating saw and a work light to see by!  The electrician is coming on Thursday to finish up a lot of the electrical.  That will provide many places to plug in, as well as lights in all the rooms — a great improvement.  For now Dave and Kyle have to measure a piece of wood, run downstairs to cut it, and then run back upstairs to nail it in place.  Lots of exercise, but not very efficient.

Also going in is baseboard molding.  The sections are cut for an entire room, and then each piece is fitted into place — which may require yet another trip up and down the stairs.

Speaking of doors, I'd forgotten that the front entry has a french door on the interior.  A see-through door will make the little space less claustrophobic.

I am delighted with the way the wood trim is turning out!  The stain, "Honey Oak," looks great, and Kyle told me that he likes how the oak doors will look framed with the pine trim. •••
