More Tile

Kyle and Dave tiled the master bath today.  The tile here has a bit of blue in it, which will pick up the light blue paint on the walls.  Kyle first established a straight line running parallel to the tub, and then began laying tile along this line.  He tiled half the room, from the shower to the opposite wall, and then tiled his way back on the other side of the room.  When a tile had to be cut, Dave stood ready with the tile saw, which is now set up in the master bedroom.

Before breaking for lunch, Dave cleaned out the mortar bucket in the basement.  This little task points out that we now have running water in the house — if only a hose running to the sump.  That's a harbinger of things to come.  Dave has called the plumber to see if he can set toilets and get some of the plumbing fixtures installed early.

We have water!  But just in the basement right now.

Today Dave had planned to take a load of construction debris to the dump at Atlanta, but the trailer's lights were not working.  The trailer is at the garage in Alpena and should be ready tomorrow.  A second load of debris will have to go over, and then most of the heavy trash will be gone from the property.

 As I mentioned yesterday, Dave put up the bird feeders.  They are on the south side of the house, attached to a cedar tree, and visible from the master bedroom and guest bedroom.  No birds have found them yet, but that shouldn't take too long.

Except for the cold temperatures, the weather this week has been pleasant.  But that's going to change tonight.  As I write this, Central Michigan University's public radio station is reporting that the Great Storm has moved across the Michigan-Indiana border.  While most of the snow will stay in the south end of the Lower Peninsula, Alpena could get as much as 8 inches of accumulation tonight and tomorrow.  I wish I could enjoy this event from my own home!
