Overview 2011

This set of photos shows progress on the house in 2011 — the past two months.  Clearly the pace of construction has been brisk!  It's hard to believe so much as been accomplished in so short a period.

January 1 — Drywall is hung
January 6 — Drywall is mudded
January 16 — Painters stain trim, paint ceilings
January 18 — Trim work is underway
January 22 — Oak flooring arrives from the mill
January 29 — Kitchen cabinets have been installed
January 30 — Tile work starts
February 3 — Tile laying is completed
February 19 — Oak flooring is installed with one board left over.
February 19 — Porches have been completed
February 23 — Wood burning stove arrives
February 26 — Office floor goes down
February 27 — Making stair treads
February 28 — Making book shelving
March 5 — Island is placed, electrical is finished
March 6 — Tools and wood are stowed before painters arrive
Yesterday — Painters are painting and staining
This capsule view of the construction process underlines how many different people, with so many exceptional skills, it takes to build a house!

And much more will be happening over the next few days.  Unfortunately, I must return to Grand Haven for a few days to finish packing.  But I'll try to get some photos together in my absence. •••
