Telling Our Story

In recent years I have become convinced that the Episcopal Church has a wonderful story to tell, but we steadfastly refuse to tell it.  We are a very quiet religious group, apparently afraid that we might offend other Christians if we say what we really think.  In fact, many Episcopalians have strong views on important subjects, but we hide our light under a basket.  So, what do we believe?

St. John's, Newtonville, MA

One person I've vented to is Mark Edington, a friend and priest living in Massachusetts.  Mark was for several years the university chaplain at Harvard.  Now he serves as priest at St. John's Episcopal Church, Newtonville, outside Boston.  In January he took over as head of the Amherst College press, — Mark's "day job."  Under his leadership this will become a "university press without paper," doing its publishing primarily online.
