Changing Moods

The changing moods of Huron's shore were on display yesterday afternoon.  We had overcast and sun alternating through much of the day.  Then, at dinnertime the sun set behind a cloud bank as a huge mass of storm clouds closed in from the west.

The Weather Channel suggests we will have mixed rain and snow showers tonight, with a low of 31 degrees, and highs in the 40s for the next several days.  There was a bit of snow in the air a few days ago, but nothing to write home about.  Thankfully, we won't get the 3-5 inches of snow predicted for Philadelphia tonight.  Perhaps this year the City of Brotherly Love's kids will wear their Halloween costumes over snowsuits!

This increasingly chilly weather has me focused on augmenting my supply of split firewood.  Over the past few days I've seen how quickly my Hearthstone Heritage gobbles up wood if I keep the stove at the recommended 300-400 degrees.  It certainly does a good job heating the house.  Last night at 10:30 the living room was 71 degrees (and a couple degrees cooler in the bedrooms).  This morning at 7:00 the temperature was 67, for a loss of just 4 degrees over 8 hours.  Not bad! •••
