Friends with Tools

God bless Attila.  Yesterday afternoon, when I told him about my bed bolt problem, he came by with a selection of tools.  He tried his socket wrench set, but it didn't work any better than mine.  His clamping pliers were too big to fit into the hole (the bolt is countersunk).  Then he tried a pair of needle nose pliers, but they didn't work either.  Finally, as a last option, he tried a beefier pair of needle nose pliers.  With a twist and a grunt, the bolt finally began to move!  A few seconds later it was out and the post and bed rail were unmated after some 40 years together.

The recalcitrant post and rail is behind the head boards,
on the left.  Attila worked the decoupling miracle.
Lesson: having the right tool makes many jobs a lot easier!  And friends with tools are a great blessing! •••
