Storm Update

The long-expected snowstorm is arriving as I write this.  A blustery wind driving big flakes of snow moved into the Presque Isle area about 8:00 a.m.  But it remains quite warm and at this point we have had no accumulation.  The Alpena forecast suggests snow this morning, a snow/rain mix starting this afternoon, and accumulation of about 3-4 inches tonight, and another inch tomorrow.

NOAA Weather Map, 12/20/12 at 3:28 a.m.
We are in the "heavy snow possible" area.  See Michigan in the NOAA weather map above.  However, at this point it appears the storm will be less severe than originally expected.  Too bad.  We really need precipitation to refill our lakes and help replenish soil moisture.  I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens. •••
