MRI

This past Monday was Patrick Pokorski's last Township Board meeting as supervisor.  His successor, Brent Koel, takes over on Nov. 20th.  It was a short meeting, only about 90 minutes, but lively nonetheless.

Karen, whom Patrick defeated four years ago, and who has made it her mission to be Resident Gadfly, launched into a tirade about pathway development at the New Lighthouse Park.  Volunteers have been clearing trails along Lake Huron and trimming up branches of trees between the trail and the lakeshore so that walkers can actually see the lake.  Karen took grave exception to such wanton despoiling of Nature and demanded that this work stop until the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO, pronounced "ship-o") can be consulted.  She interjected herself into a couple other items of business and was gaveled into silence.

Karen might have been even more intrusive, but Patrick had taken the precaution to have a County Sheriff's deputy on-site.  He seemed to have a calming influence.

Ross, Patrick's son, is doing much better.  It seem that the meds he took a couple years ago for his heart condition have had serious and probably lifelong impact on other systems.  But he's making progress.

On Wednesday afternoon I got my first "ride" through an MRI machine.  My doctor tells me I have some disk problems in my lower back.  The MRI should give us better information about what is going on, and perhaps suggest a course of treatment.  I don't have much pain, but get stiff if I sit for long periods, e.g., at meetings or in the car.  Much ado about very little, I think.  For more information go to:
