The Big Melt

As I write, the temperature at the LaFarge Limestone Quarry dock on Lake Huron is 50.5 degrees.  It warmed up through the night, and now our snow is rapidly melting away.  Back in Detroit, a heavy snow followed by rapid melting would have threatened a basement flood crisis.  Now I live on a pile of sand and rock.  The only trouble spot so far is my driveway.  The grade pushes meltwater toward the house, rather than allowing it to drain down to the road.  I'll deal with that in the spring.

One year ago, on March 5-6, 2011, Kyle and Dave were racing to build the bookshelf units, and then clean up construction dust in preparation for the painters.  Kyle used a leaf blower to chase dust out the window.
