The Reception!

Rose Cafe is a handsome brick building which may be rented for weddings or other events, and is located near the large rose garden from which it takes its name.  The facility features a cathedral ceiling, tall fireplace, and a glass wall and deck overlooking Lake Erie.  It would be hard to find a more attractive venue for a wedding reception.  Jen had it delightfully decorated, including purple leis for each guest.

After the wedding party returned from their photo session at the beach, everyone shared an excellent chicken-and-roast-beef dinner.  Having attended more than my share of such events, I can assure you that the food quality was well above the nuptial norm!

I was surprised to find that a park police officer was on duty at Rose Cafe during the reception, and even more surprised to watch him assist the caterer and bartender on a couple occasions.  That made this young man the most heavily armed waitperson in Ohio!

With the cake cut, it was time for a kiss and a dance!

After dinner the couple cut the cake, a pretty two-decker decorated with lilies.  We were surprised to find that a second cake — perhaps a "groom's cake"? — was on the table, this one decorated with the Laycock coat of arms!  Both were delicious.  And then the dancing started!

Altogether, this was a wonderful couple days, and I now have a delightful niece-in-law... or whatever the proper term of reference may be!  •••
